Improve Your Memory: Simple Steps To Better Thinking

If you’re like me, you have to work harder to remember names and other small pieces of information. But the time and effort you put into remembering certain bits of information is beneficial for your brain. Any stimulus that requires usage of your brain strengthens the memory and how you store new information thereby improving memory.
- Acronyms - Remember “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally” from your algebra days? It hasn’t gone away has it? Using simple acronyms helps you to remember information more accurately, or in that case, the process to figure out an algebra problem, will be forever etched in your mind.
- Rhymes – Rhymes can be vital to remembering names or any other bit of information that may be worth remembering.
- Chunking - Putting a long list of information into categories of information may help you better remember.
Regular exercise and eating a proper diet is vital to your brain, and there are plenty of vitamins that can help aid you in memorizing as well. Daily brain exercises and activities keep your brain functioning properly by reading, crossword puzzles, or Sodoku (highly addicting). Lumosity has really cool brain games that focus on memory, speed, and problem solving. You can also track your progress!

Dean of Personal Development: Earl Nightingale

Earl Nightingale is known as the “Dean of Personal Development.”
If you’ve been keeping up with this blog series then you know that Les Brown and Zig Ziglar were the first two motivational speakers of these three. Now, last but not least: Earl Nightingale
Earl is the trail blazer of the personal development industry. He was the first one to take reading books to audio books. In the1950’s he was the voice in the hero of radio series Sky King and a radio host for WGN Radio. Earl partnered with Loyd Conant to create the personal development one stop shop Nightingale-Conant in 1960 and went on to establish countless books and outstanding success.
“Picture yourself in your minds eye as having already achieved this goal. See yourself doing the things you’ll be doing when you’ve reached your goal.” ~Earl Nightingale
I remember Earl Nightingale for a powerful message that he delivered in 1957 called The Strangest Secret. Earl is one of those motivational speakers that has done great things but get’s a short introduction because you want to hurry up and hear what he has to say. So I won’t hold you long. I suggest that you listen to The Strangest Secret.
Personal development is intended to effect your mind in a way that will cause you to want to do something different, see something different or at least perform differently not because you feel like it, but because you know that different action will land you in a different location.
Listen to The Strangest Secret and you can not be the same.

My second favorite public speaker is Zig Ziglar. If you remember in the first part of this Personal Development series I was asked the question who my favorite three speakers were in the industry of motivation. The first post was about Les Brown. You can go back and read that one if you missed it. There is also the Monday night live Les Brown call number in that post.
If you’ve ever had the opportunity to experience Mr. Ziglar inspiring message then you know why he is on my top three list. Zig Ziglar’s approach to achieving personal and professional success is one that is easy to understand and apply.
His Mission is simple: To be the difference-maker in people’s personal, family and professional success.
“Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.” ~ Zig Ziglar
You can go over to the Zig Ziglar Website and sign up for his mailing list. They are good for not spamming and you can receive a bunch of personal development gifts and free podcasts.

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” ~Les Brown
Lately I have been finding myself studying and learning more about personal development. I think this is my season to go to another level of success, so why not share the wealth. A friend of mine asked me not to long ago who my favorite speakers were. I hadn’t really thought about it much. So I sat a did some thinking for a moment and I came up with three people that I put at the top of my list. I look up to these three motivational and inspirational speakers. Now this is not my all exhaustive list but these are three of the people that I like, listen to and learn from the most. The first on my list starts with:
Mr. Les Brown
Les Brown has a very inspiring story about being adopted, him and his twin brother at the age of six weeks. Les was labeled educable mentally retarded. But he didn’t let that stop him. He pulls a lot from the wisdom he has received in past struggles. Les talks about greatness that is in you and the hunger that you must have in order to work it out of you.
“Wanting something is not enough. You must hunger for it. Your motivation must be absolutely compelling in order to overcome the obstacles that will invariably come your way.” ~Les Brown
You can watch a video with Les right now talking about shaking off mediocrity and believing that “It Is Possible” for you.
You can check out his website at Les Brown.com and here is a link to the video of Les Brown Onevery Monday Les has a live call that he does over the phone. It starts at 8:00 pm and the number is
(712) 432-7606 pin: 623383

Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson

Our Greatest Fear —Marianne Williamson
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

Many people broadcast the apparent recession that is going on in the
worlds economy. But how often do you hear people or even businesses broadcast the opportunities that come with being creative and presistent.
Think outside of the box. That is exactly what Amar’e Stoudemire from the Phoenix Suns has done. Phoenix Suns’ power forward Amar’e Stoudemire has teamed with AtCost.com and Razorgator Tickets to turn his Facebook Page into a group buying hub where fans can purchase discounted playoff tickets.
Social media has placed a challenging demand on individuals and companies becoming more innovative with generating revenue online. But the opportunities are available rather big company or sole proprietor. The NBA uses a star’s Facebook Fan Page to sell group tickets during the playoffs. This same facebook is available to everyone; of age of course.
This is a prime example of using the the power of social media to generate profits. You just have to be creative and persistent. Go over to the Mashable blog and read a more about how NBA Star Uses Group Buying to Sell Playoff Tickets on Facebook.

Why Are We So Tired?

It’s only the middle of the workday and I am already yawning. I’m not bored and I haven’t been running around to my co-worker’s desks all morning. I can probably bet that you’ve yawed too. What makes us so tired in the middle of the day?
WebMD ran a piece on the common causes of fatigue and how to fight it. Of course the first common problem is not enough sleep. Americans are chronically deprived of sleep. The cure to this is trying to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep. I understand this is hard when there is so much to do when you are at home. But try to go to bed a little earlier every night until you can get your full nights sleep.
Another problem is sleep apnea. This condition briefly stops your breathing several times in the night, interrupting your sleep. Some resolutions to this condition are losing weight, quit smoking, or attaining a CPAP device to keep you airways open at night.
A widespread problem of many Starbucks fans is too much coffee. Some people get coffee when they’re tired, however experts say that sometime this can cause you to be more fatigued. Could be because coffee can dehydrate you. Dehydration=fatigue.
Some other culprits could be thyroid problems, stress, food allergies, your diet, and lack of exercise.
Are you sleepy today? What causes your mid-day yawn?
Natural Remedies For This Cold Season

There are plenty of natural remedies out there, but Health.com is taking the hardline with the top seven, so this season
you can get better ASAP. From echinacea to ginseng, Airborne to zinc, they go over some of the most common treatments that people reach for outside of the local pharmacy’s aisles. I’ll state for the unscientific record that nasal rinsing with a neti pot has gotten rid of no less than four sinus infections, avoiding an expensive visit to the doctor and a round of antibiotics each time. Not that I’m telling you to avoid your doctor….but this simple remedy is a great one that you can pretty much use as much as you want when seeking relief. Great for those with allergies!
Do you use any of the big 7 yourself when you feel a cold coming on?
