It’s only the middle of the workday and I am already yawning. I’m not bored and I haven’t been running around to my co-worker’s desks all morning. I can probably bet that you’ve yawed too. What makes us so tired in the middle of the day?
WebMD ran a piece on the common causes of fatigue and how to fight it. Of course the first common problem is not enough sleep. Americans are chronically deprived of sleep. The cure to this is trying to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep. I understand this is hard when there is so much to do when you are at home. But try to go to bed a little earlier every night until you can get your full nights sleep.
Another problem is sleep apnea. This condition briefly stops your breathing several times in the night, interrupting your sleep. Some resolutions to this condition are losing weight, quit smoking, or attaining a CPAP device to keep you airways open at night.
A widespread problem of many Starbucks fans is too much coffee. Some people get coffee when they’re tired, however experts say that sometime this can cause you to be more fatigued. Could be because coffee can dehydrate you. Dehydration=fatigue.
Some other culprits could be thyroid problems, stress, food allergies, your diet, and lack of exercise.
Are you sleepy today? What causes your mid-day yawn?
